Jellyfish crop circle found in Oxfordshire

A huge jellyfish crop circle has appeared in Oxfordshire. The intriguing pattern is a staggering 600ft long and seemed to have appeared out of thin air. It is believed to be the first jellyfish crop circle in the world.
Crop circle expert Karen Alexander said, "It is absolutely huge - roughly three times the size of most crop patterns and extremely interesting. People have been aghast at the size of it. We are looking into the meaning of it, but at present it just seems to have appeared out of nowhere."
The owners of the land, Sally Ann Spence and her husband Bill, have had hundreds of visitors trampling their land, which has reportedly caused £600 worth of damage.

Top 10 Grimoires

Just holding a book of shadows, grimoire or magical text can make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. As you turn over the first page, you can feel the tingle of the book's power on your finger tips.
It's no wonder that Owen Davies, professor of social history at the University of Hertfordshire, has chosen this mysterious subject as the focus of his new book, Grimoires: A History of Magic Books.
He says, "Grimoires are books that contain a mix of spells, conjurations, natural secrets and ancient wisdom. Their origins date back to the dawn of writing and their subsequent history is entwined with that of the religions of Judaism, Christianity and Islam, the development of science, the cultural influence of print, and the social impact of European colonialism."
In the book Owen lists his top ten spine-tingling texts which include Petit Albert (little Albert), an 18th century book with spells to catch fish, heal and invisibility, and Dragon rouge (red dragon), a 17th century read that features an invocation of the devil. The Fourth Book of Occult Philosophy, The Magus, The Necronomicon and the Wiccan Book of Shadows are also named in the list.
You can buy Grimoires: A History of Magic Books from Amazon for £11.49 with free delivery to the UK.

Your weekly horoscopes

Your weekly horoscope predictions from Psychics Connect.
Don't start the week without it!
The week ahead
There’s a change of energy this week as the Sun departs earthy Taurus for airyGemini, a lift of spirits, a quickening of pace. But with Mercury, the planet
that rules Gemini, currently backtracking in Taurus, we may not have a sense of
things moving forwards until the end of the month, when the planet of
communication again faces the direction of travel.
Also Saturn, stern
taskmaster of the zodiac, has only just gone forwards (last Sunday) in the other
Mercury–ruled sign, Virgo and will take time to pick up speed. But still, we can
make our preparations for the next stage of the project or journey, ready to
move on when the moment is right.
The New Moon on Sunday, also in Gemini,
is another indication to look ahead and over the following couple of weeks, to
make plans for the future.
Monday 25th to Sunday 31st May
Aries
(21 Mar - 20 Apr)
With Mercury going forwards in your solar money sector, a transaction that may have been stalled since the beginning of the month comes unstuck

This is likely to be a pretty intense week for you as Mercury slows down in your sign prior to facing the direction of travel from Sunday
Gemini
(21 May - 21 Jun)
It’ll be mid–June before your ruler, Mercury is back in your sign, but at least you’ll have a sense of things moving forwards from Sunday

Barefoot Doctor
Stephen Russell, the Barefoot Doctor, is a Taoist philosopher and scientist. His work as an author, columnist and broadcaster has helped many people to make positive change in their lives. He tells Prediction 10 things that have changed his life.
1.
No matter how stressful life is, it’s always better to relax and breathe slowly and freely.
2.
It’s always far quicker getting a happy frame of mind back when you don’t fight unpleasant feelings when they arise.
3.
It always feels better and is more practically productive to remind yourself to remain in creative rather than competitive mode. Remember life is not a contest between you and others.
4.
Rather than carrying a grudge, it always feels healthier to forgive others who have wronged you and desist from seeking revenge. This is done by realising that everyone is actually doing the very best they can according to their own state of personal evolution at the time.
5.
Some people have a hard time being happy and accepting blessings because they were brought up by people who were that way and so never learned how to give or receive love. But never let yourself be dragged down to their dysfunctional level by inhibiting your own propensity to dispense warmth, love and so on, even when it seems you get punished for it.
6.
Even when you think you’re being a mug for sticking to honourable principles, uphold the honourable stance at all times and eventually things swing round your way.
7.
Although goals are essential for giving your life a sense of direction, never pin your happiness or fulfilment on achieving goals, only on enjoying each step of the journey, no matter the result.
8.
Nobody knows the answer to your life conundrums better than you and no one knows the way any better than you, provided you’re still and silent enough internally to hear the guiding voice of your own intuition.
9.
You are always free to empty your mind and clear it of thoughts and your world won’t come to an end as a result. To the contrary, it will be regenerated and renewed.
10.
If there’s someone you’re close to and love but are too inhibited, shy or reserved to tell them, tell them anyway, as you really never know how long anyone has got here. By the same token, you never know how long you’ve got, so don’t waste a moment of it feeling sorry for yourself.

Chupacabra: urban legend or rural reality?

The chupacabra has been called the Bigfoot of Latino culture, which goes someway in explaining how big this unexplained phenomenon has become in the last years.
Since 1995 when eight sheep were found dead and completely drained of blood in Puerto Rico there have been similar incidents and sightings in nearly every country from Chile to the United States.
Reptile-like being
The sightings are always of a small reptile-like being with spines down its back, but with a dog-like face and sharp teeth and glowing eyes. It is this that South Americans have named the chupacabra, ‘goat sucker’ in English.
But no real evidence has been found about its existence and some sightings seem to identify an animal that could be a coyote or a wild dog with severe mange. Obviously the UFO-buffs say that there’s something extra-terrestrial about it and you do have to ask yourself: what kind of earthly animal can really suck the blood out of other animals?
As yet there have been no sightings over here and that’s how we want to keep it. You can keep your blood-sucking alien vampire dogs on the other side of the Atlantic, ok!

Hypnosis: the road to freedom

Can one hypnosis session really kick the world's worst habit? Well it's worked for me.
I’ve been a nicotine addict since 1991 when I was 16 and thought it was cool to hang around bars smoking Marlboro reds. Now, 17 years later, I have finally won my battle against cigarettes after a one-hour hypnosis session.
Since 1991 the pressures to give up have been building steadily. The price of cigarettes has gone from pricey to more extortionate. A number of my parent’s friends have contracted and died from cancer. Many of my friends have now given up because of the health risks or they’re having babies, and now it is my turn to do the same thing, cleaning my body out in order to aid the reproductive process.
So, a number of good reasons there. But such is the strength of the addiction that I still felt I needed something to give me the final push. And this is what hypnosis is – it wakes you up and makes you smell the coffee.
The session was not what I expected and afterwards, when I was signing the big cheque, I felt a bit hard done by. I thought that, having seen lots of hypnotism done on TV, I was going to go into a deep sleep and that the hypnotist would enter my brain subliminally. However, I was awake through the whole thing.
The process
Yes I had to relax and close my eyes, and yes there was the calming, mystical music. But instead of mystical words from the hypnotist there was practical common-sense advice about the evils of smoking repeated over and over.
I learnt from the session that hypnotism should not be shrouded in mystery as it’s about training the mind to challenge the rut that it’s got stuck in and to think from a different viewpoint. Now I don’t feel hard done by at all.
Conclusion
It did work because I haven't bought a packet since. I do have faith in alternative practices now and actually think that there are lots of habits that people can get into that hypnotism could probably help.

A trip to the pyramids
No trip to Egypt would be complete without visiting the pyramids. I was staying about six hours away (a slight logistical mishap), but that wasnt going to stop me. Luckily my boyfriend and I discovered we could fly there and, about two hours later, we were in Cairo.
Unsolved mysteries
The city has majestic feel to it as you’re walking round and there was a kind of magical electricity in the air. The pyramids are the only surviving ancient wonder of the world and I couldn’t believe I was actually going to see them. Working for Prediction, there has been much debate in the office about the pyramids - how did they get there, were they built in alignment with the stars or perhaps aliens played a hand in their construction?
A surreal experience
There are all kinds of theories related to the pyramids, some of them bizarre, others quite plausible and some bordering ridiculous but we still don’t know how they were made and possibly never will. One thing that’s for sure is that driving through the streets of Cairo and suddenly glimpsing the pyramids is a surreal experience. But standing in front of them is a life-changing one.
Powerful forces
It’s thought that great pyramid was built approx 2500BC and stood a glorious 145m tall. It would have had a gold top and white limestone covering. It is difficult to imagine the pyramids even more breathtaking than they are today, but anything’s possible. It is truly humbling to stand before them, gazing up to their crumbling peaks. A single stone on the bottom layer was almost as tall as me. As I stood there marvelling the ancient Egyptian’s incredible feat, I really put my life in perspective. The pyramids are a great reminder that there are powerful forces in the world much greater, wiser and mysterious than any of us.

Hurray for Halloween

For many of us, being harassed by children asking us for sweets when we are trying to watch Corrie brings out the Victor Meldrew in us. But we should think twice because being involved in these celebrations will connect us to an ancient tradition that is worth celebrating.
Mystic background
As the commercial cogs of modern-day Halloween start turning in the shops it’s easy to forget that, like Christmas, the celebrations on the evening of October 31st have their origins many centuries ago.
Ward off evil
In Pagan times it began as a rural ritual to ward off the evil spirits that roamed around in the darkness of autumn and winter, and threatened to kill livestock. In order to do this the farmers would dress up in scary costumes, make jack ‘o lanterns and light bonfires. It all sounds very similar to how we are still celebrating the festival today. Halloween is also a very powerful time, when magical energies are very potent.
So stop being so bah-humbug and get into the swing of things. Who knows you might even scare off a few nasty spirits of your own!
