Did you exist before you were born? Incredibly, people all over the world are beginning to recall an amazing spiritual life - a life before birth. Tonya is one of a new breed of people, who can tell you about life prior to their birth, ‘I remember that I was supposed to wait to be born with people who were in my group, (spirits that I had been training with). I remember wanting to wait and be with my group but missing the Earth existence; tasting, smelling, touching someone physically.’
Spontaneously, people are remembering a prior existence - not just of past lives (of which there is a lot of research) but of a complete spiritual existence between lives. There exists whole libraries of stories about Near Death Experience. Many people now accept that we move into a white light at the end of a long ‘tunnel’ after death without considering that we might actually have lived in this spiritual plane, the place of light, before we were born. Near death experiences and spontaneous natural recall are just two of the ways that people are currently recollecting life in the spirit realms.
Veil of forgetfulness
The spirit realm, the place of our pre-birth life, is one of unconditional love but life in a physical body is irresistible it seems. Vanya remembers the love she felt before moving into the body of the baby carried by her Earth mother. She told me how difficult it was to try and describe the experience, ‘I find it hard to explain in 3D language as I know I don’t do it justice...’
She remembers the feelings, ‘I had so much love in me it was intoxicating. In my being-ness I felt light, free and so very alive. I was like a feather or a wave smiling down on my new mother, whom I had so much love for. I had no fears, just pure unconditional love for all. There was no worry and no negative thoughts to give me any doubts. I didn’t question as I had total trust. I felt excited as I moved nearer to my birth. I remember the journey through the veil.’
So what is the veil? Our lives on the other side are primarily a resting and a learning place for the soul. Each incarnation into a body (an Earth body or one of many other realms of existence) is a way of experiencing the lessons learnt in the spiritual classroom. You can read a book about playing the piano - but unless you actually play it for yourself, you’re never going to be a pianist! The lessons learnt in a physical body are important for our spiritual growth therefore and the veil of forgetfulness assists us in coping with our temporary identity.
Roy Mills from Georgia has always remembered his past spiritual existence and has written a book about his memories. He says that even though we are shown our life in heaven in the ‘life books’, he empathises that we have free will - the will to change everything we have seen in advance. He says that we are given the choice of who we marry - who is going to play the part of the child, the parents etc.
He remembers the complete birth process and everything that has happened since - if he had been physically able to, he says he could have talked right from birth because he was able to understand everything that was going on around him. He was born with the veil of forgetfulness removed, he explains that this is to enable him to teach people about the phenomena.
Roy is very sincere about his story and in his book he explains how he was given the chance to take on this teaching role. The angels talk to Roy regularly, he says they give him information about what he is supposed to be doing (although they appear when they decide - often when he is going to bed). They give him guidance. He feels that angels appear to everyone but that they communicate with the spirit, so the veil remains in place.
Our choice
Roy declares that there is no such thing as accidents; we choose everything that happens to us. He believes that these things bring people compassion and love to those around us. He himself chose to have his fingers amputated! (He eventually had each of the fingers re-attached and they now work perfectly.) This was an important life-choice, although he explains that this memory was temporarily removed just before the incident so that he could carry out his pre-agreed ‘destiny’.
Roy describes his remembrance of the spirit realms as a ‘gift.’ He say it was gift he asked for as part of his mission in life - he chose to bring spiritual knowledge to Earth.
There have been good reasons why we usually forget our past life. Imagine the difficulty of bringing personalities of hundreds of prior, past-life existences with you into your current body. If you lived previous lives as Jayne the joiner or Pete the plumber, it would make life very confusing indeed if your current life is Linda the Lawyer. Our body choices can vary greatly with each life and although many spirits favour one sex over another, this eventually evens out as the spirit progresses.
Due to the advances in medical science, the life of the human body has extended to such an extent that it’s now possible to achieve many personality changes within one lifetime. People now move through different character changes within one life - no wonder we’re confused! Here lies one explanation of why so many people are now permitted a peek behind the veil.
With our complex and problematical lives, more individuals are turning to alcohol and drugs to cope. Living life in the fog is not the intention of the incarnating soul. With our multifaceted lives, we are forgetful of our roots - we have lost touch with our spiritual selves, and therefore loose sight of our goals and pre-life plans. The veil of forgetfulness is no longer working as a foundation for Earth existence.
As human beings, we’ve forgotten that we co-create our life-plan before we enter a body. With the help of our spiritual guides, we actually choose our next life. Tonya remembers this time very clearly, ‘I chose a date and time of birth... they showed me choices... I remember being told that I had 8 lives to choose from because I had already experienced the other events and lessons that would be learned by the other humans that were being born on that day.
I was able to view the lives that had been set. I remember there were a few that I was horrified at but I was told that if I used my lessons to remember this training and to remember that I could change the outcomes by making different choices that the lives wouldn’t turn out the way that they were shown. I decided to pick a mid-range life where things would be fairly simple yet I would face some challenges. My mind keeps going to a life that I was shown as a black man shot down in the middle of a street at the age of 16. I don’t know why that choice sticks out though, because I didn’t choose it.’
Soul family
Of course we don’t have to face all of this alone - most spirits travel in packs. Do you have an extended circle of family or friends? Are you particularly close to a cousin, a sister, a neighbour an elderly aunt? These people are probably part of your soul group. These friends and relatives are part of a soul cluster with whom we work over many lifetimes - we know each other intimately.
Tonya remembered being advised against taking an earlier body, before her spirit friends were ready to join her; ‘I remember being warned before going into the building with the “viewer” that I was advancing well and if I went to a human life without my group mates I may be set back quite a bit, as well as being lonely because the people I really connect with wouldn’t be there for 10 to 15 years.’
This is particularly relevant if you are a fairly new group of incarnating spirits - we need all the help we can get, especially if you’re moving into your first Earth incarnation. There are many realms and planets for the incarnating spirit to learn - Earth is one of the more popular because of the particular extremes of emotional feelings experienced here.
Picking the new body in the spirit realms is followed fairly quickly by moving into the body of the new baby. This occurs at any time from around the second trimester of the pregnant mother, although might be as late as the actual birth itself.
Life’s pull
The spirit body flows with great freedom of movement. The density of slipping into an Earth body can be a shock as Vanya recalls, ‘As I moved through I could feel myself getting heavier and heavier and could describe this as similar to swimming through water and as you get nearer to this dimension its like a longer swimming session where your muscles get more tired so the water feels thicker.’
Leaving the safety of the spirit realms is not an easy choice as she remembers, ‘When I reached my destination I didn’t like the feeling and had a moment where I wanted to go back to the safe place where I had felt held and loved with no doubts. I had doubt.’
But it seems that the experience of the wonders of the human life are worth it, as this example illustrates: ‘there was still something that pulled me to a human existence much harder than wanting to stay and wait for my group and my very best friend and the being that I did everything with decided to stay and wait but I decided to go.’
After making our choice of body, we leave the spirit realms fairly quickly, ‘I remember all of my choosing happened in a matter of hours, once everything was decided I can’t remember leaving the room or what happened but I remember darkness, a long shoot that I fell through and then being born.’
The merging spirit is fairly flexible within the new baby and usually moves in and out of the physical until around five years old - the time that most children start school. Young children often have unprompted recall of past lives as well as memories of themselves as spiritual beings. As parents it is easy to dismiss these reminiscences as imagination. Numerous toddlers retain the ability to see their guides and spirit friends, most often dismissed as fantasy! Imagine the knowledge which is locked away inside the mind of a small child - if only we paid more attention!
Hall of Records
Spirits under hypnosis sometimes talk about a library type of place they refer to as The Hall of Records (The Akashic Records). Spirits are able to access their own lives both past and future - bearing in mind that all ‘future’ lives are, at this stage ‘possible’ lives over which we still have great flexibility of change. These records are accessed by souls during their spiritual lessons.
We can use the information to review past mistakes and plan future tasks. Some people view these records literally as books, others see the information as a form of moving screen which they can merely view or actually enter the scene to experience the information.
I suspect that souls who visit other realms access the information in ways that work with their own understanding. Some psychics and shamans claim to be able to visit these realms during their own trance states or dream states (yet another way of recalling spirit memories). It is entirely possible that Nostradamus himself used the Akashic Records to produce his predictions.
Dr Michael Newton works in spiritual hypnotherapy, and explains, ‘These spiritual libraries serve souls in different ways depending on their level of attainment. Souls may be assisted either by their own guides and students, the archivists or both.’
Lessons in love
Remembering our whole selves is our birthright and we’re currently being given a helping hand. As books containing ‘soul memories,’ start to appear on the shelves of bookshops around the world, our view of existence changes forever. No longer will we ask, ‘Why am I here - what is the point of life?‘ Because once we remember before we were born, maybe we’ll start to enjoy our lives a little more, be kinder to our fellow souls and remember that love is the real lesson we chose to experience in a physical life.
